A recently released proceeding titled "2023 TVET Leadership Programme on Digital Transformation," organized by the UNESCO Chair on Digitalization in TVET at Shenzhen Polytechnic University, China, highlights Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Vice Chancellor of the National Skills University Islamabad, 's impactful contributions.

Prof. Mukhtar participated in this program, funded by the UNESCO Chair for TVET Leaders grant. The program, held from November 13 to 18, 2023, in Shenzhen, China, spanned six intensive days of seminars and site visits, including immersive experiences at Shenzhen Polytechnic University and Huawei Company.

 

The 2023 TVET Leadership Programme on Digital Transformation featured seven key thematic sessions meticulously designed to address critical aspects of digital transformation in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET):

  1. Background and Strategies of Digital Transformation in TVET
  2. Digital Application Scenarios in TVET
  3. Trends and Methodologies of Digital Transformation in TVET
  4. Digital Transformation of TVET Programmes and Curricula
  5. Digital Transformation Practices via Public-Private Partnerships
  6. Development of Digital Learning Resources
  7. Sharing of Institutional Digital Transformation Strategies

These sessions were carefully designed to align with the priorities and needs of prominent TVET stakeholders worldwide.

 

A diverse cohort of 23 TVET leaders and professionals from 17 countries across East Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the South Pacific participated in the program. Represented institutions included UNESCO Regional Offices, national education authorities, TVET and higher education institutions, research institutes, and NGOs.

 

Among several global experts, the resource person included:

Prof. Mukhtar emphasized the importance of such international collaborations in advancing TVET education, fostering peer learning opportunities, and integrating global best practices into local contexts.
