USP Multan Welcomes World-Renowned Researcher Dr. Muhammad Sultan for a Workshop on Scientific Writing in the Era of AI

The University of Southern Punjab (USP), Multan, will host Engr. Dr. Muhammad Sultan, Associate Professor of Energy and Environmental Engineering at Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan, as the lead trainer for the Faculty Development Initiative to strengthen faculty capacity in contemporary teaching, research, and academic development. Dr. Sultan's training will focus on scientific writing in the era of AI.

The above initiative is being implemented under the guidance of the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the University of Southern Punjab, Multan, Pakistan, reflecting the University's commitment to fostering a sustained culture of professional development, academic excellence, and continuous learning among its faculty.

Rather than treating faculty development as an occasional activity, USP has positioned the program as an integral part of its academic development strategy. The initiative brings together newly appointed and returning faculty in a structured learning environment to refresh academic practices, introduce contemporary approaches to teaching and research, and strengthen faculty members' capacity to respond to the rapidly changing demands of higher education.

About the Resource Person

Dr. Muhammad Sultan holds a PhD/Dr. Eng. in Energy and Environmental Engineering from Kyushu University, Japan, where he also completed postdoctoral research. He then undertook postdoctoral research in Mechatronic Systems Engineering at Simon Fraser University, Canada, as a Canadian Queen Elizabeth Advanced Scholar. His international academic experience also includes research affiliations in South Africa, Malaysia, Canada, and Japan.

Dr. Sultan's academic profile places him among the world's most highly cited researchers. He has also been recognized among the World's Top 2% Scientists since 2023 in the Stanford University/Elsevier listing. He is ranked No. 1 in Pakistan in Agricultural Engineering according to the AD Scientific Index.

Dr. Sultan has authored 221 journal articles, including 92 Q1 publications listed in Web of Science, with a cumulative impact factor exceeding 1,100. His scholarly contributions also include 21 books, 40 book chapters, and 132 conference publications. His research has received more than 10,200 citations, with an h-index of 52 and an i10-index of 181.

Beyond his research achievements, Dr. Sultan has extensive experience in postgraduate supervision, academic evaluation, and scholarly publishing. His CV documents supervision of postdoctoral, PhD, and master's researchers, and he has served in editorial and academic roles for numerous international journals, including npj Thermal Science and Engineering, a Nature Portfolio journal.

Elaborating on the initiative, the Rector of the USP reiterated that a university's academic strength ultimately rests on the quality, preparedness, and continuous development of its faculty.
