The University of Southern Punjab (USP), Multan, celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 with an inspiring session honoring the resilience, determination, and achievements of women who have forged their own paths through hard work and perseverance. Reflecting the global theme of International Women’s Day 2026, “Give to Gain,” the event highlighted how sharing opportunities, mentorship, and support can empower women and strengthen society. The session brought together students, faculty members, and community leaders to hear the remarkable stories of three accomplished women whose lives show how generosity of effort, knowledge, and courage can inspire others to succeed.
International Women’s Day, observed worldwide on March 8, recognizes women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements while also emphasizing the ongoing need for gender equality. Around the world, educational institutions celebrate the day by promoting dialogue, honoring role models, and inspiring young women to pursue leadership and professional success.
The special session at the University of Southern Punjab featured three inspiring role models: renowned fashion designer Ms. Zubia Zainab, Syeda Bushra Naqvi, President of the District Bar Association Multan, and Ms. Salma Ijaz, Assistant Director at SOS Children’s Village Multan. Each shared personal experience reflects the challenges and triumphs women often face, inspiring the audience to believe in their own potential.
Fashion designer Ms. Zubia Zainab captivated the audience by sharing how she entered the fashion industry at a very young age. She explained that creativity alone is not enough for success; it takes discipline, resilience, and courage. She discussed the challenges she faced while building her reputation and gaining the respect of colleagues and employees in a competitive professional environment.
She also shared insights into her busy daily routine, which includes managing design projects, coordinating with teams, supervising production, and engaging with clients. Despite these challenges, she emphasized that passion and dedication can turn obstacles into opportunities. Her message to students was clear: believe in your talent, work hard, and keep learning.
Another highlight of the event was Syeda Bushra Naqvi's talk, President of the District Bar Association Multan. As a respected legal professional and leader, she shared her inspiring journey in the legal field and the determination it took to run for and win the presidency of the District Bar Association. This achievement demonstrates both courage and leadership.
She explained that the legal profession requires confidence, strong ethical values, and the courage to stand up for justice. Addressing the students, she encouraged young women to take active roles in leadership and public life, reminding them that women have the power to strengthen institutions and create a fairer society.
Perhaps the most emotional and inspiring story came from Ms. Salma Ijaz, Assistant Director at SOS Children’s Village Multan. What made her story particularly motivating was that she herself grew up as a beneficiary of the SOS Children’s Village. She shared how the organization provided her with care, education, and opportunities that helped shape her future.
Today, she proudly works for the same organization that once supported her as a child, helping other children find love, safety, and education. Her journey from beneficiary to professional in the organization moved many in the audience and served as a powerful reminder that kindness and opportunity can change lives.
The theme “Give to Gain” also strongly resonated throughout the event. The IWD 2026 Give To Gain Campaign encourages individuals, organizations, and communities to adopt a mindset of generosity and collaboration, fostering a sense of shared responsibility to empower women and strengthen society.
Students attending the session found the event very inspiring, as the speakers showed how dedication, resilience, and compassion can turn challenges into successes. Their real-life stories motivated many young women to pursue their goals confidently.
At the conclusion of the session, the Rector and Director General of the University of Southern Punjab praised the university team for organizing such a meaningful celebration of International Women’s Day. They emphasized that this event aligns with the university's broader commitment to empowering women through education, skills development, and leadership opportunities, reinforcing the institution's role in promoting gender equality.
They also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering confidence and supporting women’s participation in education, careers, and community service, making the audience feel supported and encouraged in their pursuits.
The celebration concluded with renewed inspiration among students and participants. The powerful stories shared during the session serve as a reminder that determination, education, and generosity are essential tools for personal growth and professional success, encouraging everyone to apply these values in their own lives to build a more inclusive future for all.
