A recent report from the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFE&PT) revealed significant advancements in the infrastructure of government schools across Islamabad for the current financial year. According to the Secretary of MoFE&PT, Mr. Mohyuddin A Wani, these comprehensive efforts aim to enhance students' and staff's educational environment and facilities, thus creating congenial, hygienic, and pristine environments for teaching and learning.

Completed Projects

  • Facilities: In general, relatively lesser attention is paid to school washrooms, which are considered the root cause of several infectious and non-infectious ailments among youth. Keeping this in mind, the Ministry facilitated upgrading 252 washrooms across 63 schools, significantly improving sanitary conditions. This will create healthy environments in schools.
  • School Renovations: Twenty-one primary schools have undergone extensive renovations, enhancing functionality and aesthetics. Some of them received attention from the national and international partners.
  • Roof Treatments: Due to climatic conditions, Islamabad and peripheral schools have significant problems with their roofs. Realizing this, the MoFE&PT facilitated roof treatments and repairs where necessary. So far, 43 schools have had their roofs revamped, thus making the buildings safe and avoiding future deterioration.
  • IT Parks: Five educational institutes now boast newly established IT parks, providing modern technological resources for students at their schools.
  • Libraries: 21 primary schools have been equipped with new libraries, fostering a culture of reading and learning.
  • Artwork: Artistic enhancements have been completed in 30 schools, with additional projects still in progress.
  • Furniture: New furniture was delivered to 21 primary schools and IT parks, with further deliveries ongoing.
  • Security Walls: Renovation of security walls is underway for 80 schools, enhancing safety measures.
  • Entrances: The entrance areas of 30 schools have been uplifted, with more projects continuing.
  • Acrylic Boards and Corridors: Upgrades, including installing acrylic boards, have been completed in 40 institutes, with additional upgrades ongoing.
  • Wash Stations: 100 wash stations have been installed in 50 institutes, promoting hygiene.
  • IT Lab Rooms: 21 rooms have been renovated to serve as IT labs, advancing digital education.
  • Electrical Work: Electrical upgrades are nearly complete in 30 schools, and 40 more are expected to follow soon.

New Construction

  • Classrooms: Significant progress has been made in new constructions, with 120 rooms in 23 schools at or above the plinth level, aiming for grey structure completion by the end of June.
  • Roof-Level Work: 65 rooms in 16 schools are currently at the roof level, with finishing works expected by the end of June.
  • Future Projects: Additional rooms are on an expedited schedule for completion by November-December 2024.

The Secretary of MoFE&PT, Mr. Mohyuddin A Wani, is committed to improving educational infrastructure, underscoring the importance of creating conducive learning environments. These efforts are part of a broader initiative to elevate the standard of education in Islamabad, reflecting the government's dedication to providing quality education for all.
