Professor Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Vice Chancellor of the National Skills University Islamabad, congratulated Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad on his reappointment as Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan

In his congratulatory message, Prof. Mukhtar expressed confidence in Dr. Ahmad's leadership and anticipated further advancements in the higher education sector under his guidance. "The honor of being re-elevated reflects the ongoing progress within the HEC. We look forward to the continued growth and development of the HEC under your esteemed leadership," the NSU Vice Chancellor remarked.

The National Skills University Vice Chancellor highlighted the need to introduce innovative educational strategies akin to the Bridging Innovation and Learning in TVET (BILT) project implemented by the UNEVOC  International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training. This initiative, designed to foster a global knowledge bridge, holds the potential to transform educational paradigms significantly. Notably, the National Skills University Islamabad has been designated as the sole institution in Pakistan to pilot the BILT project in collaboration with Shenzhen Polytechnic University, China.

The BILT strategy is anchored on three pivotal elements: the Identification, Integration, and Implementation of New Qualifications and Competencies (NQCs). This approach begins with identifying emerging skills/educational requirements through labor market analysis and other relevant data. Subsequently, these insights are integrated into academic curricula and training frameworks. The final phase involves practically implementing these qualifications through teaching, learning, and assessment, thus ensuring that educational content remains relevant and adaptive.

According to Prof. Mukhtar, Vice Chancellor of the National Skills University Islamabad, the HEC has all the capabilities to implement the 3Is strategey, and our trained team will be happy to assist in collaboration with the UNEVOC.

The 3Is BILT strategy has garnered support from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research in conjunction with the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training. UNEVOC, the UNESCO International Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, is executing the strategy globally.

As part of this initiative, thirty-five National Skills University Islamabad members, including senior leadership, academic administrators, students, and external stakeholders, participated in a training program with the Shenzhen Polytechnic University and UNEVOC team.

In light of these developments, Prof. Mukhtar emphasized the necessity for higher education in Pakistan to evolve and implement changes that align with contemporary challenges in job markets. As envisioned by Dr. Ahmad, establishing think tanks and exploring contemporary educational models could yield substantial benefits for the country's academic landscape, says the NSU Vice-Chancellor.
