The Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) has launched a far-reaching program to upgrade public schools in Islamabad with advanced sports facilities. According to Secretary Mr. Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, the initiative, spearheaded by Federal Minister Rana Sanaullah, aims to promote physical fitness, mental agility, and character development among students across the capital.
Youth Empowerment Through Sports
The IPC Minister described the program as a “milestone in youth development,” emphasizing the need to cultivate excellence inside and outside the classroom. “We aim to raise a generation that not only achieves academic success but thrives in physical and extracurricular pursuits,” he said.
The initiative includes a wide array of new facilities and resources set to transform the educational landscape of Islamabad’s public sector institutions:
- The IPC ministry in government schools and colleges will install eight Padel Tennis Courts. Three courts are scheduled for completion by the end of July, with the remaining five to be finalized within the next quarter.
- Footsul Facilities will be introduced in five public colleges, encouraging active participation in foot-based team sports.
- 25,000 Tracksuits will be distributed to students from grades 5 to 10, designed to promote engagement in sports while addressing uniformity and accessibility.
- 115 Mind Games Rooms will be set up across public schools to foster strategic thinking and mental agility, introducing chess, checkers, and other cognitive games into the daily routine.
- Comprehensive Sports Equipment covering cricket, hockey, football, basketball, and volleyball will be delivered to schools, ensuring students have the tools to participate fully in physical education.
- Combat Sports Facilities, including ten boxing rings and taekwondo arenas, will be established to introduce martial arts and structured combat disciplines at the school level.
Secretary IPC, Mr. Wani, recognized as a champion of contemporary educational pedagogies, echoed the minister’s sentiment, underlining the broader educational benefits: “We are committed to the holistic development of students. These sports facilities will instill values such as teamwork, discipline, and leadership essential in every walk of life.”
The Director General of the Sports Board, actively collaborating with IPC on the project, expressed optimism about the long-term impact. “This multi-sport approach will help identify untapped potential and nurture emerging talent. It is a turning point for the future of youth sports in Islamabad.”
Beyond building physical stamina and sportsmanship, the project is expected to serve as a platform for social inclusion, gender equity, and community engagement. It also positions Islamabad as a model for other regions seeking to embed sports within the national curriculum framework.
