Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC) has long recognized the power of research to transform society. This year’s HEC Research Awards, also known as the Outstanding Research Awards, celebrate academic excellence and serve as a beacon for future innovation, valuing and including researchers from all fields and backgrounds.
2025 Awards
In 2025, the awards continue their tradition of honoring distinguished researchers in three major categories:
Best Publication (Rs. 1 million): For a research article or book that promises deep societal impact or fresh research pathways.
Best Researcher (Rs. 500,000): For a lifetime of outstanding scholarly contributions—or a singular work of exceptional quality.
Best Young Researcher (Rs. 500,000): For outstanding early-career researchers under 40, with a notable record and promise for future contributions.
These awards are offered in three broad fields: social sciences and humanities, physical sciences and engineering, and life and health sciences.

The window to apply for the 2025 HEC Research Awards is officially open. If you plan to use, submit your completed application by Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (Pakistan time), submissions after that will not be accepted.
