The Department of Computing and Emerging Technologies (DCET) hosted its 2026 Open House at the Al-Mukhtar Auditorium, bringing together more than 22 leading technology companies and students pursuing degrees in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Science, and Software Engineering.

Far more than a traditional exhibition of final-year projects, the event served as a recruitment and networking platform where students presented industry-driven innovations, participated in interviews, received professional mentoring, and, in several cases, secured employment offers on the spot.

The initiative reflects a growing recognition that technical education alone is no longer sufficient. As Pakistan's IT sector continues to expand, employers increasingly seek graduates who combine technical competence with practical experience, problem-solving skills, and an understanding of rapidly evolving market demands.

Throughout the day, industry leaders evaluated student projects and shared insights into emerging technologies, future workforce trends, and the skills most sought after by employers. This direct engagement allowed students to benchmark their abilities against industry expectations and gain a clearer understanding of potential career pathways.

The event was organized with the guidance of Prof. Dr. Saud Altaf, the incoming Vice Chancellor of the National Skills University, Islamabad, and the Chairperson of the Department of Computing and Emerging Technologies. Prof. Altaf's efforts have strengthened partnerships between academia and the technology sector.

The initiative also reflects the broader vision of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Founding Vice Chancellor of National Skills University Islamabad, who consistently championed skills-based education, innovation, and closer collaboration between universities and industry. Under his leadership, NSU has made employability and practical learning central to its academic mission, preparing graduates to meet the demands of an increasingly digital economy.

As Pakistan seeks to expand technology exports and create high-value employment for its growing youth population, events such as the DCET Open House 2026 demonstrate how universities can move beyond traditional teaching to become active partners in national economic development.
