To accelerate innovation and industry relevance, the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) convened a dynamic Industry-Academia Roundtable at its prestigious Atta-ur-Rahman School of Applied Biosciences (ASAB). The event zeroed in on the game-changing frontiers of biotechnology, agri-tech, and biomedicine, fields shaping the future of food security, healthcare, and sustainable living.
More than 15 key players from Pakistan’s biotech and pharma industries sat shoulder-to-shoulder with academic experts from ASAB, the NUST School of Health Sciences (NSHS), and the School of Interdisciplinary Engineering & Sciences (SINES), aiming to ignite collaboration that moves cutting-edge research out of the lab and into real-world solutions.
The roundtable, co-chaired by Mr. Muhammad Asghar, Principal of ASAB, and Mr. Ali Ameen, Managing Director of Wilson’s Pharma group, sparked spirited discussions around applied innovation, joint R&D projects, and building pipelines for future-ready products and technologies.
The exchange wasn’t just academic; it was strategic. From advancing bio-solutions for disease prevention to innovating agri-tech that supports climate-resilient farming, the session highlighted how synergy between universities and businesses can shape national progress.
