Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, has taken a significant step forward in championing the well-being of its community. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vision for Education Foundation (V4E) is a momentous occasion that marks the initiation of a transformative initiative: a comprehensive eye screening program for students, faculty, and staff.

The agreement, signed at SALU’s Syndicate Hall, is not merely an administrative milestone but a declaration of intent. It brings together Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Vice Chancellor of SALU, and Mr. Nazim Rajani, Founder and CEO of V4E, in a partnership that underscores the university’s commitment to holistic education and welfare. Witnessed by prominent figures like Prof. Dr. Menhoo Khan Laghari and Captain (R) Abrar Hussain, the ceremony was a testament to the power of collaborative action.

This program, launched in collaboration with SALU’s Institute of Business Administration and the Students Societies Center, promises more than vision tests. It aims to provide corrective glasses, necessary medications, and referrals for advanced treatment at partner hospitals. The screenings, to be conducted in the Students Societies Center’s Auditorium Hall, reflect a deliberate effort to make healthcare accessible and inclusive for the entire university community.

Dr. Yousuf Khushk captured the spirit of this initiative eloquently, emphasizing its potential to “promote student welfare and academic development.” He acknowledged that while SALU possesses the resources to excel, partnerships like this are crucial for amplifying its impact and advancing its mission. His words resonate with an urgent truth: universities must not only be bastions of knowledge but also agents of positive societal change.

The MoU goes beyond medical care, embedding volunteerism and academic integration into its framework. Students and faculty will be pivotal in managing social media, supporting medical camps, and raising funds. Volunteer programs aligned with educational goals will offer credit allocation and research opportunities, ensuring participants gain practical experience and academic enrichment. V4E, for its part, will provide the necessary training, supervision, and resources to make the program a success.

This initiative is more than a partnership; it is a blueprint for how institutions can address community needs while fostering personal and professional growth. SALU, long a symbol of education in Pakistan’s Sindh province, is now to lead by example in community welfare.

A host of dignitaries attended the event, including Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Wahid Bux Jatoi and several esteemed faculty members. Their presence underscored the collective commitment to this groundbreaking endeavor.

SALU’s partnership with V4E demonstrates that education and welfare are not separate domains but interconnected spheres that, when combined, can drive meaningful change. This program is not just about a clearer vision but a clearer path forward for the university and its community.
