University of Engineering and Technology Taxila is a highly progressive public engineering university in Punjab, Pakistan, that has grown from a small regional engineering college into one of the country’s recognised centres for engineering education, research, and applied technology. The institution began as the University College of Engineering and Technology (a UET Lahore campus) in 1975, moved to its permanent site in Taxila in 1978, and received an independent charter as UET Taxila in 1993, a trajectory that reflects steady expansion in programmes, research, and community impact.

Academics, research, and enterprise

  • UET Taxila, a global player in engineering and applied sciences, offers a diverse range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. Its emphasis on industry engagement and applied research has led to the organization of international conferences and knowledge-exchange events, enhancing its global research profile and fostering connections with engineers and industry partners worldwide.
  •

Taxila - one of the world’s ancient seats of learning

  • The modern campus of the UET Taxila sits in a valley with an extraordinary pedigree: Taxila (Takshaśilā) was a major urban, mercantile, literary, and intellectual centre from the ancient past through the early medieval period. Archaeology and the UNESCO record show Taxila as a crossroads of cultures, Achaemenid, Mauryan, Greek, Kushan, and Gupta, and a renowned centre for higher learning and Buddhist scholarship. That historical continuity from an ancient seat of higher learning to a modern technical university.
